10th Annual Rocky Mountain Bass Slam Set for June 4th

Rocky Mountain Bass Slam 2017The Rocky Mountain Bass Slam is celebrating its 10th Anniversary in style. Dubbed “A Decade of Bass Celebration,” the annual event will take place June 4th in Golden, Colorado with a host of incredible bassists including two legends.

“In 2017 the RMBS will be featuring two national bass performers in the Legendary Chuck Rainey and SuperFunk Powerhouse Doug Johns,” their press release states. “Chuck Rainey is one of the most recorded bassists in music history having recorded on hundreds of chart-topping records ranging from the Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and Steely Dan. Doug Johns is known for his raw presence, energy, and all-around crowd-wowing prowess. Doug has had the privilege of working with such icons as Victor Wooten, Buddy Miles, Chuck Rainey, The LA Mass Choir, Aaron Lindsey, and many others.”

The Slam will also feature local bass artists Paul Rogalski, Glenn Tapia, Jodie Woodward, Pete Williams, Sean Reid Pyrtle, Kirwan Brown, Jeff Andrews, and Nick Golder.

More than just a good time, the event is also a fundraiser for under-privileged youth in Colorado. “This year we will be donating to the Blue Star Connection – a local charity organization that puts musical instruments in the hands of children patients with life-threatening illness,” they write. “Our goal is to put a bass guitar in the hands of youth who normally may not have access to the beautiful instrument of the bass. We pay healing forward through the gift of music.”

The Rocky Mountain Bass Slam takes place Sunday, June 4th at 1 pm at the Historic Buffalo Rose in Golden, Colorado. Check out their website for more info.
