Electro-Harmonix Unveils the Battalion Bass Preamp
Electro-Harmonix is sending reinforcements for bassists with the new Battalion bass preamp and DI. The comprehensive unit features a four-band EQ, fully-featured MOSFET distortion section, a compressor, a noise gate, and flexible connectivity.
Its distortion section has its own footswitch with Level, Blend, Drive, and Tone knobs for dialing in your grit. It also has a mini-switch to route it into three signal path options: Pre EQ, Post EQ, and Dry EQ. For the Dry EQ, only the dry signal mixed in with the Blend control is affected by the EQ.
The compressor is engaged with a push button and has a blue LED to indicate how much you’re compressing. Its noise gate has an adjustable threshold control, while the Battalion also has a -10dB switchable input pad. EHX fitted the balanced XLR output with a dedicated level control as well as bypass and ground lift controls. It also has a 1/4-inch output that is headphone ready and a 1/4-inch dry output.
