Bass of the Week: Muckelroy Six-String Solo

Muckelroy Six-String Solo Bass

This week we’re checking out a beautiful six-string Solo model bass built by luthier Brady Muckelroy. Its owner, Chris Taylor, shared the specs and photos of the gorgeous beast.

“It plays like an absolute dream and the electronics allow for some amazing tone versatility,” he writes.

The sleek design features neck through construction with a five-piece wenge, maple, and Ecuadorian rosewood neck. Its body wings are alder topped with exhibition grade Birdseye maple burl. “On the back side of the neck (body portion), there is a curly ambrosia maple tone block with another pair of the black & white accent veneers to really make the neck-to-body transitional carve pop,” Taylor adds.

As for electronics, Muckelroy fitted the bass with a pair of custom Kent Armstrong pickups matched to a Nordstrand 3b preamp. Hardware includes a Hipshot A Style brass bridge and Gotoh Res-O-Lite tuners.
