Etienne M’Bappe Anchors New John McLaughlin Live Album

John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension: Live at Ronnie Scott'sIn March of 2017, John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension played two nights of sold-out shows at the world-renowned London jazz club Ronnie Scott’s. It was a special occasion for McLaughlin, whose history with the club goes as far back as the 1960’s when he was a member of the house band. He and his band performed works from early Mahavishnu Orchestra pieces through the group’s most recent album, Black Light.

Luckily, the group has now released an album from the two-night stay. The band is firing on all cylinders, with bassist Etienne M’Bappé holding down the low end and taking some nasty solos.

Check out the band’s chemistry on this deep version of “Sanctuary” from the new album:

Live at Ronnie Scott’s is available on CD and as a digital download (iTunes and BandCamp).
