Weezer Mixes The Beach Boys and The Clash on New Album, “Pacific Daydream”
The new Weezer album was supposed to be a darker, moodier counterpoint to their last self-titled record referred to as The White Album. However, when the band got together a different mood presented itself. Pacific Daydream is their 11th album and shows a new tonal character for the group.
“I’m going to say [it sounds] somewhere between The Beach Boys and The Clash,” bassist Scott Shriner told The Brag. “What’s really neat about this record is the middle eight sections, which I think are super interesting. They’re some of the coolest bridges we’ve ever had on any album. They’re usually the part of every song that I get really happy about.”
Get a taste of that sound (and Shriner’s bubbly bass work) with the track “Get Right”:
Pacific Daydream is available now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
