Bireli Lagrene Archives

Back in the 80s, I listened to a lot of Biréli Lagrène’s music. I was always blown away by his guitar skills and learned years later that he has some serious chops on bass too. Here’s a clip with Lagrène improvising to “So What” on bass.

Bireli Lagrene, known for his guitar playing, can apparently lay down a mean Jaco Pastorius-style groove on bass too. Bireli obviously picked up a few pointers while touring with Jaco in the 80s. Or, as Jaco would say, “I know where I stole every note!”
