Rick Link of Beardly Customs shared his latest fretless build with us, and it’s a killer. The 35-inch scale bass features neck-through construction with a three-piece maple and purpleheart neck topped by a cocobolo fingerboard with maple fret lines.

It’s been six decades since Fender first introduced the Jazz Bass, and now they’re celebrating with a special 60th Anniversary Jazz Bass model. The limited-edition bass replicates the original design of the Jazz.

Ibanez has added a new set of basses to their Soundgear line with the SR1100B and SR1105B. The instruments are four- and five-string versions of the same design and come in Sea Foam Green and Pearl White Matte finishes.

Serek Basses has unveiled a brand new bass model called The Grand. Fit with a short-scale neck and funky body shape, the instrument also has a brand new set of electronics called the Serek “Skuzz Serkit,” which is an on-board passive fuzz circuit.

This week we’re checking out a bass by 5th Day Products called Mallory, which takes its name from Juliette Lewis’ character in “Natural Born Killers“. Luthier Jeremy McDiarmid explains that everything about the bass is oversized.

Eastwood is bringing back another bass from the past with the SB-1000. Introduced on their crowd-funding platform, the bass is their take on the Japanese instrument popular during the ’80s.

Squier has shrunk the P-bass to introduce the Mini Precision Bass. The reduced-size includes a 28.6-inch scale, which is even smaller than a regular 30-inch short scale.

This week we’re checking out a custom one-off by Wahlbrink that they dubbed “The Headless White” for pretty obvious reasons. The bass utilizes an ETS headless tuning system and its swamp ash body is finished in white.

AC Guitars has introduced the SLG bass, which is described as a more traditional style to expand their Retro Series. It comes in a 30.5-inch scale four-string and a 32-inch scale five-string.

Hofner’s Green Line is a series created to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Started with classical guitars, the series now includes a version of their 500/1 violin bass. It carries all of the features of the original version with some interesting differences.
