Solo bassist Jesús Rico Pérez is back with a brand new video. This one is different than ones we’ve heard from the past, but equally strong in the composition and performance.

We love the videos coming out of Berklee, in large part because of their diversity. Here’s bassist/vocalist Naty Hernández performing her original composition “Manos De Agua” in Studio A. Naty’s bio tells the story: “Her music represents the amalgamation of the rhythms from the Andean mountains in Colombian with jazz and sonorities of world music.” Enjoy.

Brutai’s Christian Sturgess just released a playthrough video for their song “Onyx,” and it’ll melt your face. The song, which appears on their 2013 self-titled EP, features a killer bass part with intricate rhythms using slap, strumming, and three-finger techniques. The bassist’s snarling bass tone is also something to marvel. Sturgess gave the low down in the YouTube comments section....

Tedeschi Trucks Band made a stop at NPR’s offices and packed the biggest band I think I’ve ever seen in for NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concert”. Anchored by bassist Tim Lefebvre, the band performs some tunes from their latest album, Let Me Get By. The set includes “Just As Strange”, “Don’t Know What It Is” and “Anyhow”.

Bassist singer-songwriter Scott Varney is back with a video for his song “Carry On.” Besides stellar bass playing, the song has poignant lyrics that he dedicates to “all those who have lost.”

Our friend David Piggott shared this awesome clip of Haji’s Kitchen bassist Derek Blakley playing through a medley of his band’s tunes, and I’m glad he did.
