Gear Watch: Ibanez Introduces Three New Series of Basses

Ibanez introduced a number of new basses at Summer NAMM 2010, including new GSR, SR370 and SRT900 series.

GSR Series

All three of the GSR series basses are available as 4-string only, and come with a P/J pickup configuration. Two left-handed models are offered, including a short-scale version (28.6″).

The new GSR series offers a line of basses for players on a budget. MSRP for the GSR 200 series is $357.13, without a case.

The SR370 series offers more for those with slightly bigger budgets. The basses come in both 4- and 5-string models, with a 3-band EQ, Ibanez’s new “Style Sweeper” mid-frequency select switch and Bartolini MK-1 pickups. MSRP for these basses is $533.32 for the 4-string and $599.99 for the 5-string.

The SRT900 series rounds out the new line of basses, with 4- and 5-string, neckthrough models and more upscale features. The MSRP for the SRT900 series basses is $1,266.65 for the 4-string and $1,333.32 for the 5-string.

The basses feature a mahogany body with figured maple top, US-made EMG pickups and an ergonomic arched top with scooped back body.
