Unidentified Flying Project: There is a Dream, with Pino Palladino
Songwriter Simon Wood Harris has been busy working on a project with some awesome musicians and goals.
Described as “the pursuit of dynamic energy, the hope of the edge of perfection and the promise of an insight into the minds of the great musicians,” SWH’s Unidentified Flying Project has put out their first video.
“[I] started to consider the idea of bringing that style of writing, and then bespoke wrapping, the world’s most gifted musicians around each song to see what might happen,” SWH added.
The tune, “There is a Dream” combines an all-star cast of musicians anchored by the one and only Pino Palladino on bass. Pino is laying down a simple groove throughout the tune, with some of tasty licks thrown in at just the right time. The rest of the band includes drummer Jeremy Stacey, guitarist Robbie McIntosh, vocalist Jon Kenzie (a singer SWH said they found “busking in Manchester”), Roberto Manzin on horns, and others.
After you watch the video, you’ll probably want to know where to get the track. It isn’t available yet, but SWH says it is coming.
“We are looking to put a collection of songs together for release, and have some wonderful sessions lined up for the new year. We’re currently working on writing new material, discussing dreams and ideas, contacting musicians, going to gigs and learning!!”
We’ll be watching.
