Talking Heads: Heaven, Live

I’m going to warn you… if you grew up in the 80’s, this story will probably make you feel old.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense. Shot over the course of three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December, 1983, the footage captures the band during their tour in support of Speaking in Tongues.

The film begins with David Byrne performing alone with the help of a boom box. From there, Bryne was joined by a different member of the band on stage for each song until the entire band is present.

The second song of the film features Byrne with bassist Tina Weymouth. (Backup singer Lynn Mabry can be heard from backstage).

In celebration of the anniversary, here’s that performance of “Heaven”.

  1. One of the best concert films ever. And yes it makes me feel old

  2. Really under-rated musician – fine and beautifully spare bass lines. Tasteful and elegant.

  3. Older…I mean wiser :p

  4. Peggy

Thank for posting! Still listening to songs from this film at least once a week. And no, I don’t feel old!
