Song Exclusive: Mike Garnica’s Bass Playthrough of Chemical Burn’s “Raining Anvils”

Chemical Burn’s latest album Raining Anvils is full of heavy grooves and crushing riffs, so we asked bassist/vocalist Mike Garnica to show us how it’s done.

“We poured all we had into making these songs just right,” the bassist stated. “Every part was written with the intent to set the world on fire. Then we took them to [producer Juan Urteaga] and he dumped jet fuel on them.”

Here’s an exclusive clip of Garnica hunkering down on the album’s title track. Raining Anvils is available now on CD and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).

This is great work. But it’s a shame, that within the final mix the bass is drowned out by the other instruments so often, especially in heavy music. Of course you are going to notice if it’d be missing completely, but as far as I am concerned I’d like to notice and hear more bass in heavy songs.

  2. great riff…it is a bit drowned out by the white noise of the guitars. The vox are bordering on cookie monster but at least they didn’t go all the way there.

Mike sounds good. Solid playing… the tune has a slight Pantera vibe. Which is a complement in my book. More bass in the mix would be ideal for my taste; but I’m a bit biased. ; )
