Fender launched nine new models to its Squier Classic Vibe series at the Summer NAMM Show. That includes four new basses: the Classic Vibe ’50s Precision, the Classic Vibe ’70s Precision, the Classic Vibe ’60s Mustang, and the Classic Vibe Jaguar.
David Ellefson’s line of signature instruments has gotten a new spin with two new bassists: the 4-string X Series Signature David Ellefson Concert Bass CBXM IV and 5-string X Series Signature David Ellefson Concert Bass CBXM V.

Fender has added a new line of instruments called the Vintera series. The lineup includes vintage-style guitars and basses made in Ensenada, Baja California in Mexico that draw their features from the company’s first three decades.
BASS OF THE WEEK: The Duke Ellington School of Arts in Washington, D.C. has produced numerous famous alumni. The high school got a major renovation in 2016 and now, with the help of another alumnus, a piece of the school will always be in the hands of a bassist.
It’s been a decade since Caparison Guitars introduced a new bass model, but now they’ve fixed that with the Dellinger Bass. The company says the Dellinger is “instantly familiar but at the same time much improved.”
One look at this bass and you’ll know its inspiration. However, Rick Wilson of Moonshine Custom Guitars went way beyond replicating the paint job from Eddie Van Halen’s infamous Frankenstrat. The four-string tribute takes every little detail about the guitar and its scars into consideration.
Al Cisneros has teamed up with Rickenbacker for a limited edition signature bass based on their flagship model. The 4003AC is outfitted with a few of the Sleep/Om bassist’s requests.
Sandberg Guitars has announced a new limited edition model to their California Grand Dark series, which was introduced three years ago. The new bass is limited to 40 pieces and comes in a high-gloss orange finish.
