Pops Magellan Returns with “Deep Thoughts”

Pops Magellan: Deep Thoughts

Back in August, we shared Pops Magellan’s debut solo single, “Misunderstood,” from her upcoming EP Damage. Now the bass hero has returned with a new song called “Deep Thoughts” that blends “Brazilian maracatu melodies, live and electronic drums, and funk infused with rock and spacey soundscapes.”

The bassist, who has worked with artists like Adam Lambert and Avril Lavigne, let her creativity flow.

“Deep Thoughts is about those times when our minds hold us back, when thoughts start to ferment, keeping us from expanding until we’re stuck in a fog,” she writes. “This track is a journey through that mental loop, capturing the tension of being held back by your own mind and the release that comes when you finally break through. It’s about finding clarity and hope on the other side and surrendering to the beautiful process of acceptance and evolving.”

The song Magellan’s funky bass work aided by drummer Noa Kahn, who has built her reputation in the Los Angeles jazz and groove scenes. “Kahn’s presence on the track is vital, not just as a drummer, but as a fierce and unstoppable woman who has overcome immense challenges to make her mark in the music industry, like Pops Magellan herself,” a press release explains.

“Deep Thoughts” is streaming now on Apple Music, Amazon Music, and more. Damage will be released in the summer of 2025.
