Watch Nirvana’s Newly Released Paramount Concert, With Novoselic Shaking the Stage

Nirvana’s legendary Halloween 1991 concert at the Paramount Theatre has just been released in full on ARTE’s YouTube channel.

The show was filmed a month after Nevermind came out, capturing the band right as everything was changing. It is the only Nirvana concert shot on 16mm film and it looks and sounds as raw as it did that night.

Krist Novoselic is in top form throughout. His Gibson RD cuts through the mix with power and clarity, driving songs like “Breed,” “Negative Creep,” and “Territorial Pissings.” With Kurt Cobain’s guitar often on the edge of chaos and Dave Grohl’s drums pushing at full tilt, Novoselic’s bass work keeps the whole thing grounded while adding its own weight and character.

More than 30 years later this performance still feels electric. If you have never seen it or if you want to revisit one of Nirvana’s finest moments, now is the time.
