Watch: Christian McBride Big Band Grooves on “Back In Love Again” with Jeffrey Osborne on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Christian McBride and his Big Band hit late night TV for a powerhouse version of “Back In Love Again,” featuring Jeffrey Osborne on vocals. The group appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live with the kind of groove and energy we’ve come to expect from McBride’s crew.
Originally recorded by L.T.D. in the late seventies, “Back In Love Again” gets a big band treatment here that feels both classic and fresh. McBride keeps the pocket locked while the band lays down a wall of sound that swings hard. Osborne’s smooth delivery fits perfectly over the tight horn lines and rhythm section fire.
It also looks like McBride is playing a maple neck Atelier Z bass for this one. Whatever he’s using, the tone is fat, clear, and right in the center of the groove.
Christian McBride’s Big Band continues to prove that serious musicianship and deep groove always win. This performance is another reminder of why McBride remains one of the most exciting bassists and bandleaders out there.

Christians great but, more Jimmy Kimmel? You can’t find a different channel?
