From Stage to Studio: Seymour Duncan and Duff McKagan Team Up for a Signature PJ Set

Duff Mckagan Seymour duncan pickups

Duff McKagan’s tone has been part of rock history for decades. From the thunder on Appetite for Destruction to the punch on Slither, that tight low end and sharp attack are instantly recognizable. Now Seymour Duncan has made it easy to bring that sound to your own bass with the new Duff McKagan Signature PJ Pickup Set.

This set combines two of Duff’s favorite models. In the neck position you get a Quarter Pound P-Bass pickup with large Alnico 5 magnets and plenty of output. In the bridge you’ll find a Hot Stack Jazz Bass pickup that keeps things hum free while adding clarity and bite. Together they create the aggressive, full tone that Duff has relied on for decades.

Each pickup is hand built in Santa Barbara, California and features Duff’s skull and crossbones logo. They fit standard PJ bass routs, so dropping them in is simple. Seymour Duncan says the set works great for rock, punk, grunge and metal, but you can easily push it further by adding a two or three band tone circuit.
