Chase Bliss Audio Gets Weird with the Bad Mood
Chase Bliss Audio has unveiled the Bad Mood, a pedal that revisits the two-channel workflow of the Mood MKII with a new edge. Built for experimental soundscapes, the pedal helps you “explore the wild side of ambience.”
“Explore musical disguises, radio loops, and splintered harmonies, with two stereo channels that can interact and interfere with each other. It’s noisy, and improper, and it’s going to get you in trouble,” the company writes.
The Bad Mood comes in two colors – Xtreme Red and Ink Edition – and has tons of features. A micro-looper captures musical fragments, from which the wet channel can apply modulations. The Clock knob adjusts the sample rates of both channels, and a Cross knob sets how the channels respond to your input or each other. At the end of the chain is the Glue, a function that Chase Bliss says you can use to “warm things up, or to ruin everything.”
The pedal has some deep tweaking with dip switches to access alternate behaviors and internal modulation. It allows for storing two presets within the Bad Mood, or 122 via MIDI.
