Bubby Lewis Puts You in the Band on “Loops, Vol. 1”

Bubby Lewis and Loops Vol 1 Cover

Bubby Lewis has a new album, and he wants you to play along.

Loops, Vol. 1 is the latest release under his moniker Peanut Butter Man. The ten-track collection was composed and recorded entirely in Reason, allowing Lewis to “layer intricate basslines and delicate instrumentation with clinical precision,” Alpha Pup Records explains.

The album is split into two halves, the first featuring five original compositions by Lewis. The second half features extended play-along versions that strip away the main leads for educational and creative opportunities.

“The opening track, ‘Stardust’ introduces a shifting time signature and glittering percussion, while ‘Ryan’s Buffet’ incorporates a distorted, midrange bass tone,” Alpha Pup writes. “On ‘Stromboli’ Lewis employs expressive wah-filtered basslines alongside fluid piano, leading into the rhythmic acoustic percussion of ‘Barbacoa’ and culminating in the complex, evolving structures of ‘Jade Dragon Mountain.'”
