Guild Revives the Starfire Deluxe Bass in Two New Finishes
Guild has added new models to its Newark St. Collection including the Starfire Deluxe bass, which comes in “Teal the Deal” and “Sweet Tea” finishes. The new design harkens back to those from six decades ago while adding modern sensibilities.
“The Newark St. Collection honors our ’60s-era legacy of exceptional quality and vibe while also adding contemporary touches that make the guitars and basses more relevant to today’s players,” said Nick Beach, Product Manager, Fretted Instruments. “The Starfire Custom and Starfire Deluxe guitars and the Starfire Deluxe bass are reimagined versions of some of our most iconic electric instruments.”
The Starfire Deluxe Bass featured an arched maple top and back with maple sides. It has a short 30.75-inch scale similar to the original basses. Its mahogany set neck has a Vintage Soft U shape and is adorned by pearloid block inlays and ivory binding on the rosewood fingerboard. The ivory binding also extends to the body trim and F-holes, while the Guil Peak logo and Chesterfield headstock inlays are pearloid.
Guild fits the Starfire Deluxe bass with a pair of BS-1 BiSonic single-coil pickups, each featuring its own volume and tone knob. A three-way toggle selects the pickups, while a master volume control sets the overall output. Other features include Grover Vintage Bass open-gear tuners and a Guild adjustable bass bridge with rosewood saddles.
