WestFest 6 Announced
WesFest 6 has been announced, set to take place February 27, 2011 at the Roxy in West Hollywood, California. The event is a celebration of the life of bassist Wes Wehmiller, who passed away after a battle with thyroid cancer in 2005. It is also a fundraiser for the Wes Wehmiller Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Berklee College of Music, which was created to help electric bass students “whose musicianship, spirit, and visibility as a performer demonstrate his or her potential to carry on the talent and spirit of Wes.”
This year’s concert will be headlined by PSP, featuring Pino Palladino on bass. The group, filled out by drummer Simon Phillips and Phillip Saisse, play a fusion of many musical styles collected through each member’s extensive experience in the music industry. Other performers include Gryphon Labs (featuring Pete Griffin of Zappa Plays Zappa), the Rick Musallam Group, Danny Mo & The Exciters, and the WesFest All-Stars.
The 2010 scholarship winner, Joshua Tyson, will also make an appearance.
