Bass of the Week: Moniker Guitars Natural Dixie Double P-Bass
Who doesn’t love a good P-bass? Moniker Guitars knows it only takes some simple elegance to create a tone monster, and they proved it with this version of their Dixie bass.
The Dixie Double P-Bass is about simple, natural design with slick curves in all the right places. Its alder body has arm and rib contours for extra playing comfort while its natural satin finish is accented with black painted binding. The neck is equally comfortable with a maple fretboard devoid of inlays. “There are fret markers on the side of the fretboard,” Moniker writes. “The profile is similar to a J-bass neck with a 34? scale. The number one compliment we get on our basses is how comfortable the neck feels. The nut is bone and the width is 1-1/2?. The frets are heavy/jumbo Nickel/Silver frets. The neck has the same satin finish as the body.”
Moniker fitted the bass with a pair of their hand-wired P-bass pickups with volume, tone, and blend controls. Hardware includes a black bridge with matching Wilkinson clover-style tuners.
