Sad news to share: Larry Taylor has passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was 77 years old. Nicknamed “The Mole,” Taylor was the founding bassist for Canned Heat and played with the band from 1967 to 1970.

Bassist Frank de la Rosa, who played with a who’s who of jazz artists, has passed away. He was 85 years old.

Viraemia bassist Scott Plummer has died from suicide. The news was shared by bandmate Josh Hernandez on the group’s Facebook page.

Jazz bassist Jeff Andrews has passed away. A cause of death has not been announced, although he was battling double pneumonia earlier this year. He was 59 years old.

It’s another tough day in the bass world. Stephan Ellis, former bassist for the popular ’80s rock band Survivor, has passed away. He was 60 years old. The news was confirmed on Survivor’s Facebook page by longtime guitarist Frankie Sullivan.

Sad news to report: Peter Tork of the ’60s band The Monkees has passed away after a battle with cancer. He was 77 years old. The news was shared by his family on his official website.

Jorge Casas, bassist for Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, has passed away from undisclosed causes. He was 69 years old. Estefan shared the news on her Instagram page.

Teresa Ryan, aka Lorna Doom of L.A. punk band The Germs, has passed away from breast cancer. She was 61 years old. A family representative announced the news in a statement.

Eric Haydock, who helped found the seminal rock band The Hollies, has passed away. He was 75 years old. A statement from Bobby Elliott on the band’s Facebook page helped to break the news.

Brazilian bass great Arthur Maia has passed away after suffering a heart attack. He was 56 years old.

Very sad news to report today: bass legend Joe Osborn has passed away. He was 81 years old. His son, Darren, made a statement on behalf of his family on social media.
