Andy Rourke Leaves Freebass
Andy Rourke, the bassist formerly with the Smiths, has left Freebass, the bass super group he formed in 2005. The band also includes New Order bassist Peter Hook and The Stone Roses/Primal Fear bassist Gary “Mani” Mounfield
According to a post on the band’s website, Rourke will not tour with the group, who planned to hit the road in support of It’s A Beautiful Life.
The band has issued this statement on their home page: “Andy Rourke was initially involved in the conception of the group and contributed to the EP and a few tracks on the LP. He is now living in NYC and will not be joining the band for live dates.”
The new album will be released on September 20, 2010.
