Lorenzo Feliciati and Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari Release “Berserk!”
Bassist Lorenzo Feliciati and vocalist Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari have teamed up to release Berserk!, an aptly titled album that defies labeling. The effort draws from nearly every musical style with elements of psychedelia, jazz, doom metal, electronica, opera, and more. Each song has an nearly schizophrenic feeling while remaining true to the tune’s musical core.
“I have never been able to listen to the same style of music all the time,” Forsnari explains, “so what I prefer is being free to play different things, going back and forth from opera to rock or jazz. That kind of insanity is probably the glue that put me and Feliciati together and actually makes Berserk! possible.”
Feliciati brings some kick ass bass to the table, starting with a sly, dark-yet-funky fretless line on the the opening track “Macabre Dance.” He also wields an upright on several tracks to deliver a fat, moody tone.
Other musicians on the album include drummers Pat Mastelotto, Cristiano Calcagnile, and Simone Cavina; guitarist Eivind Aarset, trombonist Gianluca Petrella, alto saxophonist Sandro Satta, keyboardists Fabrizio Puglisi and Jamie Saft.
Berserk! is available on CD and in multiple digital formats from RareNoise.
