Machine Head Announces New Bassist

Jared MacEachernThree months after beginning an open audition to fill the shoes of longtime member Adam Duce, Machine Head has announced their new bassist is Jared MacEachern.

MacEachern has a history with the band, as his previous group Sanctity toured with Machine Head in 2007, during which time the bassist filled in harmony vocals after Duce was injured. His bass playing matched with his backup vocals helped the bassist beat out over 400 applicants who submitted demo videos.

“There were dozens of amazing players, and it was interesting to watch each one take on our tunes,” Guitarist Phil Demmel explained. “One of our biggest criteria for this gig was to be able to sing the high harmonies. That was our litmus test. And Jared passed with flying colors.”

As part of the gig, MacEachern will be performing with Machine Head for the band’s time in Mayhem Festival. He will also be relocating to Northern California to begin pre-production on the group’s eighth studio album.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
