Jojo Mayer & Nerve, Featuring John Davis: Live in Europe
We don’t often feature full sets of music, but when John Davis sent us this video of Nerve performing live in Europe, I couldn’t stop watching. The band – which also features drummer Jojo Mayer, keyboardist Jacob Bergson, and effects specialist Aaron Nevezie – mixes the formats of programmed electronic music styles with live instruments and improvisation.
Davis is described on Nerve’s website as the “foremost proponent of synthesized electric bass culture and Low end Manipulation.” He holds the group together with a huge groove and a wide sonic palette. And while the band’s sound calls on electronica, each member is constantly interacting to create an organic vibe. This live set at the Hinterhof in Basel, Switzerland showcases the band building a highly energetic set that will keep you engaged for the whole 36 minutes.
The whole set is available for download through Nerve’s Bandcamp page.
