Payson Announces Fanned SuperCharger Bass Series

Payson Fanned SuperCharger Bass

Payson Bass has been making strings designed for multi-scale basses for several years. Now, after two years of prototyping, they’ve announced the Payson Fanned SuperCharger series of basses is ready.

“Utilizing the 37”-34” Fanned scale lengths and outfitted with Nordstrand Audio Pickups, the SuperCharger series have a massive versatile sound,” Payson writes. “They have incorporated features such as hidden Fret tangs with Stainless Steel Frets, a 12” radius and an asymmetrical back, the neck is super comfortable.”

The bass can be ordered with custom finishes, preamp options, or pickups. The bass shown is built with a one-piece swamp ash body, a bird’s eye maple neck that’s reinforced with carbon rods, and a pau ferro fretboard. It’s fitted with three Nordstrand Big Rig pickups that each have a mini-switch to toggle between series, single coil, and parallel operation. It also has an interesting pickup selector layout. A three-way blade switch chooses between the two back pickups while a balance knob mixes that signal with the front pickup.

Other standard features include Hipshot tuners, Babicz Solo Rail bridges, and a Reunion Blues Continental HD gig bag. The Payson Fanned SuperChargers street for between $3,495 – $4,365 depending on options. They offer P51, PJ, Jazz and Tri-pickup versions with series/single coil/parallel switching.
