Bass of the Week: Lairat Basses Myra Bass 5

I’m a sucker for redwood on basses, so when I saw this Myra Bass 5 by Paul Lairat on my Facebook feed, I stopped in my tracks. The five-string bass has a rich curly redwood top in a special finish to accentuate its deep color.
The French luthier added even more depth to the instrument with a mahogany back and wenge body core. Its neck is an eleven-piece laminate of maple, wenge, mahogany, and walnut, which is then topped with an ebony fingerboard. Doesn’t that just sound delicious?
Other features include Nordstrand pickups, a Glockenklang preamp, Gotoh tuners, and ABM bridges.
