The Omnific: Wax & Wane

The Omnific is a killer prog-metal band consisting of two bassists – Matthew Fackrell and Toby Peterson-Stewart – with drummer Jerome Lematua. Their latest song, “Wax & Wane”, distills their melodic yet aggressive sound into one five-minute track. If you haven’t heard them yet, this is a great start.

The bassists begin in unison, before branching the song out with harmony and solos. Check out the video, then get a closer look at their technique in the playthrough video below.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.

I really enjoy this duos music and technique. The drummer on this is pretty badass too.
