KLOS Guitars is launching the Apollo Series of electric instruments, including the Apollo Electric Bass. The bass, which comes in standard and Pro versions, features composite technology with a carbon fiber neck.

Dino Jelusick recently pulled together an incredible line-up for this cover of Boston’s “Foreplay/Long Time”. The band includes Jelusick along with Henrik Linder, Mike Portnoy, Lachy Doley, Joel Hoekstra, and Justin Johnson.

Tony Levin and the Levin Brothers are finally getting the chance to hit the road, after 14 months. The band is kicking off their “Vaccinating Rhythm Tour 2021”, followed by a busy schedule for Levin with his other projects.

Charles Berthoud is running a series of videos with this challenge posted to his fans: “If ____ was the hardest song in the world”. In this one, he takes on the Chili Peppers’ “Californication”, with a variety of impressive techniques.

Like every other band, Kansas had its tour cut short in 2020. However, they were able to get a year of their Point of Know Return Anniversary shows in before the pandemic. Now they’re sharing a live album, “Point of Know Return Live & Beyond”.

Sandberg Guitars is celebrating its 35th anniversary with four limited-edition Racing Car Design basses. Each model features racing-inspired finishes that recall “legendary Hollywood movies and today’s race tracks.”

I can’t believe I’ve never seen this video before, but I’m glad I finally did. In this clip, Band of Gypsys – with Buddy Miles on drums and Billy Cox on bass – are in the studio recording the song, “Power of Love”.

Guns N’ Roses are getting back in the saddle this summer. The band has announced dates for their rescheduled North American tour, which will include Wolfgang Van Halen’s solo project, Mammoth WVH.

Nick Lloyd recently shared this video on Facebook of Mariya-Andoniya Andonova-Henderson performing Bach’s Cello Suite No.6, Prelude on a bass he built. The tone and performance are magnificent!

Dave Holland has returned with a new trio record with guitarist Kevin Eubanks and drummer Obed Calvaire. “Another Land” is a studio album, but the songs are derived from themes that developed organically during the concerts before recording.

This week in The Brown’stone on No Treble, Rich Brown’s study of triads continues, taking the lessons learned in our last one to create beautiful chords on bass (and use those same shapes to play bass lines).
