Bass of the Week: Alpher Instruments Cobia Prime V2

This week we’re checking out an Alpher Instruments Cobia Prime V2 that features an amazing Candy Orange finish over its one-piece roasted sugar pine body. The five-string bass also has a quartersawn roasted maple neck and fingerboard.

Luthier Chris Dobson fits the Cobia with a pair of Nordstrand Big Blade pickups. Its control configuration includes two volume knobs and a passive tone knob, all of which are mounted on an aluminum control plate. Other features include a black pearl pickguard, Hipshot hardware, and a custom Alpher/Hiscox hardshell case.
