Jazz legend Ron Carter will be turning 85 on May 4th, 2022, but he’ll be celebrating with the public six days later. The master bassist will be performing with three of his bands at Carnegie Hall.

“I will be celebrating my birthday in 2022 with Carnegie Hall on the 10th of May … (yes, my actual birthday is the 4th of May),” he shared on Facebook. “The event will feature performances by some of my groups … Trio, Quartet, and Nonet – exploring material from my last 60 years, as I go into my next 60 years of performances.”

Carter added that NBC newscaster (and fellow bassist) Lester Holt will be the evening’s emcee while Stanley Clarke and Buster Williams are slated to make guest appearances. More guests will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Tickets for Ron Carter’s 85th Birthday Celebration are on sale now and range from $20 to $200. For more information, check out the Carnegie Hall website.
