Christian McBride Unveils New Band with Tour Dates
Whether he’s in a duo with Edgar Meyer or leading his big band, Christian McBride always keeps good company. Now the bass icon has unveiled a set of tour dates with a brand new band.
“Starting this summer, I’ll be singing ‘Papa’s Got a Brand New Band!” He wrote on Facebook. “Look out for my new group featuring Nicole Glover on saxophone, Ely Perlman on guitar, Mike King on piano, and Savannah Harris on drums!”
The new and yet-to-be-named group will kick off their maiden voyage on June 9th at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles. They’ll keep mostly to the West Coast before wrapping up with two nights at Caffé Vivace in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Leading up to the outing, McBride will be touring nearly nonstop with his groups Inside Straight and New Jawn as well as a six-night run with Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, and Brian Blade. Until then, we’re looking forward to hearing McBride’s next jawn!
