Sharay Reed Releases “Bass” EP
Groove master Sharay Reed has released a new EP simply titled Bass. The Grammy-nominated bassist, who has worked with superstars like Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle, named the five-song collection quite appropriately as he lets his instrument do the talking for him.
Reed’s big, beautiful tone is ever-present as he grooves, comps, and solos over the tracks. Although his playing is masterful, the music on Bass is more about the feeling and the ideas than being a shred fest.
That’s clear from the very first track, “Electric Seasoning,” which has a bounce that will have you bobbing your head in no time.
