Ain’t No Mountain High Enough: You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me

No Treble reader Brian Keating is the bassist and musical director for the Colorado-based Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, which is a “tribute to the classic songs of Motown and Stax records.”

Keating sent us their latest video, which is a cover of “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me,” originally written and performed by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles in 1962. Dzirae Gold is the vocalist in the group.

“Arranged in a jazz trio format, the double bass supports the vocal melody by quoting the iconic piano and guitar hook of the original to help convey an emotional interpretation,” Keating shared.
