Mustang McGee Releases “It’s Mustang Time!”
Saddle up, because bassist Will “Mustang” McGee has just released an EP called It’s Mustang Time! The Nashville-based artist wrote the songs in his own blend of retro rock, blues, and country.
McGee is a member of Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country utilized the band – guitarist Daniel Donato, keyboardist Nathan “Sugar Leg” Aronowitz, and drummer Will “Bronco” Clark – to complete the music. As such, there is a tight and unified sound on the EP.
“I have a full album coming next year!” McGee tells us. “These singles are songs I play every night with Cosmic Country and represent the first music I’m putting out under Mustang McGee.”
In an interview last year, the bassist explained how the band’s playing has become so good.
“That [cohesion] comes out of the repetition and it almost becomes a vocabulary of music,” he said. “You hear certain things and you know their licks, they know your licks. That’s a kind of communication when those things come up and that’s kind of unspoken, but also there’s a lot of verbal communication and goals laid out. That also develops a shorthand to a certain extent.”
