moe. Announces New Album, 35th Anniversary Tour

2025 is shaping up to be a big year for moe. The band has announced their 14th studio album, Circle of Giants, on January 31st. They’ve also announced a tour to coincide with the release, marking the group’s 35th anniversary.
moe. is sharing the album’s first single today, “Ups and Downs.” Bassist Rob Derhak wrote the song.
“Ups and Downs came about from an experiment I conducted during the pandemic in 2020,” he shares. “There was a lot of uncertainty about our future, and the touring music business was especially uncertain. Stuck at home, and left to my own devices, I began working on my home digital recording setup. I came up with the idea of trying to write songs for people, and ‘Ups and Downs’ was one of those songs. It began with a conversation and a story. A man wanted me to write a song for him that could help express his feelings for his wife and their relationship. He wrote an email about how they met, but what struck me most was when he said, ‘Like anyone else, we’ve had our ups and downs.’ Once I read that, my mind opened up, and I was able to draw from my own experiences in personal relationships, and thus, the song ‘Ups and Downs’ was born.”
Give the song a listen with this live performance from August:
The band’s “Cheers to 35 Years” tour will kick off on January 30th with two nights at the Aladdin Theatre in Portland, Oregon. From there, they’ll make their way across the U.S. into March, finishing on March 10th at the Charleston Music Hall in Charleston, South Carolina.
