Remembering Rachel Rhodes: Rich Brown Honors Her with Emotional “First Snow” Tribute
We are deeply saddened to share that bassist Rachel Rhodes, a beloved figure in the bass community, has passed away. To honor her memory, bassist Rich Brown shared a heartfelt tribute, performing alongside Rachel’s recording of her composition “First Snow.”
“My heart is shattered, and I’m so deeply saddened by the news of my dear friend Rachel leaving this earthly plane,” Rich shared. “Rachel Rhodes was a wonderful solo bassist with a deep sense of melody and a musical sensitivity. She was such a beautiful human being inside and out, and an unwavering pillar of support to so many. I’m sending love and strength to her husband Nico, and to anyone feeling the loss of this precious warm light in our lives. Rachel wrote this beautiful piece in 2020 for the two of us to play, and today it reminds me of my favourite quote from Dr. Cornell West that says, ‘The kingdom of heaven is within all of us. So wherever you go, leave a little piece behind.'”
RIP, Rachel. You will be missed.
