Catch the Funk: Nik West’s First-Ever Live Album Hits Vinyl

Funk bass queen Nik West has done a lot in her career. She’s toured the world, performed with Prince, collaborated with George Clinton, and had her own successful solo career. However, she’s breaking a new barrier.
“I finally did it!!! I’m SOOO excited (and honestly, a little nervous) to share something super special with you,” she shared in an email. “For the first time ever, I recorded a completely live album, with a studio audience, and pressed straight to vinyl.”
West’s new album was recorded at Little Big Beat Studios in Liechtenstein. Since it’s all pressed straight to vinyl, everything was recorded in one take without re-dos or edits.
“This show was a big part of my Catch Me If You Can tour. As you’ll discover while listening, I am not about perfection, but I am all about creating a FEELING and an experience,” she continues. “I wanted the audience to dance and go home feeling better than they did when they arrived. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s full of my heart and soul. I hope you love it. A HUGE thank you to Little Big Beat Studios, my beautiful band, and Nick Kandelaki for creating one of the best experiences of my life.”
West performs her funk anthems like “Catch Me If You Can” and “Thumpalenah” as well as her more rock-oriented tunes like “Say Something.” Get a taste of the record with the in-studio video for “Catch Me If You Can.”
The Nik West Studio Live Session vinyl is available for pre-order for approximately $41 through the Little Big Beat website.
