Gallien-Krueger Introduces RB Legacy Amps at NAMM: “Designed to Be Played Loud”

Gallien-Krueger 1001RB Legacy Bass Amp

Gallien-Krueger unveiled the RB Legacy Series of bass amps at the NAMM Show, which they call the new standard of excellence for the modern pro bass player. The lineup includes two models: the 1001RB and the 2001RB Legacy. Their analog designs include a unique power section that is made to be pushed.

“The RB Legacy 1001 and 2001 are equipped with Class H power amplifiers, which have two power supplies,” GK explains. “One that operates lower output levels and one that handles higher output levels. These amps are designed to be played loud and with this configuration, it not only improves reliability, but allows you to play hard into the rails (maximum output) without overheating the amplifier or worrying about your tone giving out, a problem with many bass amplifiers.”

Loudness isn’t the only aspect of the design, though. The company explains that the RB Legacy delivers almost twice the current needed to develop full power. With this extra juice, the tone continues to be powerful, growly, and defined even at its highest volumes. A new adjustable limiter also tames excessive signal peaks to prevent unwanted distortion.

Other features include cabinet simulation that can be used in the DI or headphone signal, a studio-grade headphone amplifier, three voicing filters, an active variable Q four-band EQ, and a Boost with edge control.

The Gallien-Krueger RB Legacy 1001RB Legacy runs anywhere from 300 watts RMS to 1,000 watts burst. The 2001RB Legacy can run up to 2,000 watts burst. (See below for the full options.) They will be shipping in May with prices of $1,499 and $2,099, respectively.

2001 RB Power Section:

Bridged Power (Amps Driving Single Load Together) - 800 W RMS @ 8 ohms, 1200 W RMS @ 4ohms, 2000 W burst @ 4 ohms
Dual Mono Power (Amps Driving Load Separately) - 300 W RMS @ 8 ohms per channel, 400 W RMS @ 4 ohms per channel, 600 W RMS @ 2 ohms per channel, 700 W burst @ 4 ohms per channel, 1000 W burst @ 2 ohms per channel
1001RB Power Section: 300 W RMS @ 8ohms, 400 W RMS @ 4ohms, 600 W RMS @ 2 ohms, 700 W burst @ 4 ohms, 1000 W burst @ 2ohms
