John Patitucci’s New Book Delivers 70+ Exercises for Modern Jazz Bass Technique

Jazz bass master John Patitucci is sharing more of his wisdom in a new instructional book published by Fundamental Changes. Modern Jazz Bass Exercises & Études was written to be a “complete method to develop technique, harmonic knowledge, and creativity” for jazz bass.
Available in paperback and eBook formats, the book features over 70 exercises and etudes, accompanied by audio downloads for in-depth practice. “Each one of the 70+ original etudes/exercises targets a core element of modern jazz bass soloing, harmony, and technique, with an emphasis on precision, tone, and musicality,” Fundamental Changes says.
More specifically, the book has exercises on string-crossing, arpeggios across the fingerboard, solo repertoire with modern jazz vocabulary, diminished and tetra-chord harmony, and time-feel exercises.
Modern Jazz Bass Exercises & Études is 83 pages long. It is available now through Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.
