Lamb of God has returned with its first new music since 2022’s Omens. “Sepsis” is a menacing new single that delves into the seedy underbelly of Richmond, Virginia and its killer metal scene.

“’Sepsis’ is a celebration of the very underground local bands here in Richmond that we really admired when we were just forming Burn the Priest,” Mark Morton shares. “Bands like Breadwinner, Sliang Laos, and Ladyfinger—though they never got widespread attention outside of Richmond, those were the bands we listened to all the time. The song references that stuff in a way that’s a direct line to where we were coming from when we were in the basement writing our earliest material together.”

Produced by Josh Wilbur, the song is driven by John Campbell‘s crushing bass tone as he carries the riff through the first half of the song. The second half of the song kicks the tempo up for a groove reminiscent of something from As the Palaces Burn. Hear it in this lo-fi music video shot in Richmond.

“Sepsis” is streaming now Apple Music, Amazon Music, and more. Lamb of God has a few more dates on the books for 2025 including the Headbangers Boat from October 31st to November 4th.
