Top 10: The Most Watched Bass Videos (December 2022)
We closed out 2022 strong, and some of that was thanks to some stellar bass videos throughout the month. Here are the top 10 No Treble reader favorites for December 2022.
Vulfpeck: Serve Somebody
Vulfpeck dropped their latest video a few days ago, and this time, they’re doing their version of a classic song. Antwaun Stanley leads the group, backed by Joe Dart on bass, on Bob Dylan’s “Serve Somebody.”
The Winery Dogs: Mad World
Following their highly successful debut of “Xanadu,” The Winery Dogs dropped the next single from their upcoming album, “III.” Richie Kotzen, Billy Sheehan, and Mike Portnoy bring it on “Mad World,” which ends perfectly with a solo by Sheehan.
Derek Frank: Jive Talkin’
Derek Frank sent me his latest video, which he calls an “instrumental-ish cover of The Bee Gees’ “Jive Talkin'”, played with a handful of basses, vocoder, keys, and drums.” Derek is joined by Ty Bailie on keys and Jake Hayden on drums.
Aaron Gibson: Prayer For The Dying
Aaron Gibson has a new video out, and this time, he covers “Prayer For The Dying” by Lisa Hannigan. Aaron’s bass and vocals arrangement is beautiful.
Gadianm: Kaf
No Treble reader Luc Brame sent us another fantastic video by his band, Gadianm. We love the tune and the story behind it.
2022 Reader Favorite Bassists – #1: Geddy Lee
We made it to the top of the list, and this year’s reader favorite bassist is Geddy Lee. Lee returned to the stage this year, including appearances with Alex Lifeson. In addition, some old school Rush was included along the way.
2022 Reader Favorite Bassists – #2: Leland Sklar
Leland Sklar is a long-time reader favorite, and for good reason. One of the busiest bassists on the scene, a handful of videos with the session legend made their way to NT – spanning multiple years. He’s #2 on the Reader Favorite Bassists list.
2022 Reader Favorite Bassists – #3: Charles Berthoud
Charles Berthoud has some mind-blowing abilities. This is evident not only to us, but to No Treble readers as well, who routinely watch and comment on his videos. He lands at #3 on this year’s Reader Favorite Bassists list.
2022 Reader Favorite Bassists – #4: Ellen Alaverdyan
For the second time in two years, Ellen Alaverdyan lands on the annual Reader Favorite Bassists list. The young bassist’s playing and videos are infectious, and she’s making huge wave. So we’re not suprised to see her here once again.
2022 Reader Favorite Bassists – #5: Rebecca Johnson
The first time we shared a video by Rebecca Johnson was back in 2011. Over the years, more and more videos have come along, and we’ve continued to feature them. She’s #5 on this year’s reader favorites list.
2022 Reader Favorite Bassists – #6: Andy Curran
We have a newcomer on the annual Reader Favorite Bassists list. News of Alex Lifeson forming a new band was very big news, and Andy Curran was selected for the bass chair. Curran lands at #6 on this year’s list.
