Jens Ritter just wrapped up exhibiting at Guitar Summit 2024 in Mannheim, Germany, where he showed off some spectacular instruments. One bass that caught our eye is an R8-Singlecut Concept model dubbed the “Sound of the Deep.”

Jens Ritter’s basses always blow me away, and this R8 Acoustic model is no different. The four-string bass is crafted from solid red cedar with a maple neck and ebony fingerboard, which is adorned with oval ring inlays.
Phil Lesh’s “Eye of Horus” Bass Guitar Acquired by National Museum of American History
Phil Lesh’s “Eye of Horus” bass, built by Jens Ritter, has been acquired by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. The modern-styled bass will be added to the museum’s extensive instrument collection, which also includes Prince’s and Eddie Van Halen’s guitars.
