Scott Varney sent us this excellent video for the holidays, featuring his take on “This Christmas” by Donny Hathaway. The bassist/vocalist even throws in some of Jaco’s “Continuum” for good measure.

For years, Steve Bailey has sent a holiday video for us to share with you. In celebration of the holidays, here’s the latest - featuring Steve, John Patitucci, Joe Dart, Whit Browne, Victor Wooten, and Mike Pope - with a note from Steve.

Our friends at Bass The World shared this video of Alex Golub and Zlatoyar performing a bass duet arrangement of ABBA’s 1979 tune, “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight).”

The Main Squeeze took the stage at Red Rocks back in July. They just shared this video of their performance of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” and as usual, the band – with Rob Walker on bass – nails it.

Gypsy Soul is getting us into the holiday spirit with this excellent performance of “Winter Wonderland” (with some Beatles thrown in). Check out Roman Morykit’s awesome fretless work on the tune.

Mitch sent me this video the other night, and he was quite excited about it. So was I. Here’s Evan Marien performing Jaco’s “Continuum.” Like the video we shared by Evan earlier this year with his performance of “Havona“, he once again uses his Supro Huntington short scale bass for the track.

Get yourself right and get ready to groove. The Get Right Band has a new album, "Live in Asheville," coming in January, and they shared this video for the song “Heart or Bones” with us. The laid-back, funky jam is glued together by bassist Jesse Gentry, who lays down a fat, simple bass line.

Cody Wright shared this solo bass performance of “Nightingale”, with some stunning improv. The result is a combination of incredible musicianship and skill.

I always love getting emails from this bassist Panagiotis Andreou. This time he shared the killer video for the Now Vs Now song, “Dichotomy,” which sounds like the soundtrack to an intense dream.

Whenever a Berklee Indian Ensemble video shows up, I watch it immediately. In this clip, the ensemble is joined by Indian Ocean, dubbed the “pioneers of the Indian rock fusion scene.” The combined group performs a new arrangement Indian Ocean’s popular song “Jhini,” with Sharon Renold on bass.

“River” is one of Joni Mitchell’s most covered songs, but you’ve never heard it like this. Ellen Andrea Wang lays down a gorgeous bass line while singing the song with a vocal effects processor.

Stuart Clayton is back with another video in his “Giants of Bass” series. “This video is a performance of ‘The Wicked Vicar’, the Victor Wooten-style piece that I wrote for my 2017 book ‘Giants of Bass,'” Start shares.
