Here’s a great video clip from Victor Wooten‘s Groove Workshop, with teaching and playing in only the way Victor can. Victor is joined by Anthony Wellington in the clip.

Here’s a clip of Jason Newsted during his time with Metallica from the Cunning Stunts DVD. Jason starts with a little bass solo doodle before he is joined by guitarist Kirk Hammett on duet renditions of the songs “My Friend of Misery,” “Sanitarium,” and finally “Nothing Else Matters.”

Divinity Roxx, who got her big break touring with Victor Wooten, shows off her bass skills on The Beyoncé Experience – Live! DVD by playing through a medley of classic hip-hop and R&B tunes, wrapping up with some solo bass and stage antics. Divinity is the musical director for Beyonce’s band, Suga Mama.

Here’s a clip featuring some beautiful and funky playing by San Francisco native Bobby Vega (with one sweet bass). Bobby has played with top names on the West Coast, including Tower of Power, Jerry Garcia, and Booker T.

Here’s a clip of James Genus’ bass solo to open up the Randy Brecker tune, “Harpoon”. The performance comes from a date with the Brecker Brothers in Madrid, Spain in 1994.

On the tune “Metamorphos”, Dave Holland and his quintet show an unstoppable stream of ideas that eventually change styles by the end of the song. The clip is from the 2002 Newport Jazz Festival, and includes some commentary by Dave himself about midway through the piece.

Here is a cool video from Zon endorser Alex Bershadsky. Alex resides in Israel, where he performs with his band, The Looney Tunes. His composition, “Butterfly Trap”, evolves from a thoughtful solo bass idea into a full band ballad, and then into a funky fusion jam before returning to solo bass.
