Marcus Miller and Omar Hakim took the stage at Berklee’s Spring Bass Bash. Here’s the duo jamming on the tune, “Jean Pierre.”

Zander Zon tuned his bass to match a cello’s, put a capo on the 12th fret, and then performed a stunning rendition of Bach’s “Prelude from Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major.”

The Jaco Pastorius Archive delivered big with this recording of Herbie Hancock’s “Watermelon Man,” performed by Tommy Strand & The Upper Hand. Jaco was only 19 at the time.

In this video, Ed Friedland (on double bass) covers the Oscar Pettiford tune “Tricrotism.” The tune also features Kevin Ravellette on sax and my friend Kenji Lancaster on drums.

You have to hand it to DHL. They asked Cory Wong to “write a song that demonstrates the idea of ‘supply chain’.” Cory delivered an excellent, funky tune with the help of bassist Yohannes Tona, and some killer string and horn sections.
