Gibson has just released a short scale version of their classic Thunderbird bass. The bass has a 30.5″ scale, which the manufacturer explains is favorable for players with shorter arms or smaller hands as well as beginners and students. They also note that these short-scale basses aren’t just for novices, as Jack Bruce and Paul McCartney played them during highlights in their careers.
The bass features a Mahogany body in the “reverse-bodied” shape and Mahogany neck with a Rosewood fingerboard. The pickups are Thunderbird Ceramic Humbuckers, and the hardware is finished in black chrome.
The Gibson Thunderbird Short Scale bass is available now for $1,549.00. For more info, visit Gibson’s website.
