Crash Kings: Evolution of Guitar – With No Guitar
Brothers Mike Beliveau (bass) and Tony Beliveau (keyboards and vocals) formed the trio The Crash Kings with drummer Jason Morris. But they approach it with a twist: to “create a band that once and for all could be ‘The Big Rock Sound’ without guitar.”
The two brothers trade handling the guitar-like duties, with Mike hitting the tube overdrive and Tony using a modified clavinet.
In this video, the trio gives a look inside the studio, where the band is working on their new album.
Be sure to check out their version of “Crosstown Traffic” around the mid-way point!

AMAZING!!! Please come to Nashville!!
I don’t get it. Nice bass though.
Awesome bass tones. Definitely digging it!
Every guitarist I have shown this to cringed. (then seemed to get very ticked off)
Now this is Creative!! :^D
Nicely done! Remember that Jan Hammer went note-for-note on his Moog with John McLaughlin in the Mahavishnu Orchestra years ago…
great beans of coolness….
I thought that modified clavinet looked familiar…turns out I saw a video of them covering War Pigs a few months back.
Sweet!
Coool! Rock on!
